As 2018 comes to an end I look back at the year and I am grateful for so many things. The one thing that I am consistently grateful for every year are the tools and teachings that my guru taught me. They have completely changed my life and without them I can honestly say I would not be where I am today.
About two and a half years ago I created an online course based on a lot of the things I learnt from my guru plus some of the tools and techniques I have developed over the years. The 12-week online course is called “Introduction to Meditation” and takes the seeker through a very practical study of the mind and meditation.
As we are about to begin a new year, I wanted to let you know that I’m having a big sale for my course. It’s normally priced at US$239.88, but I will be offering it for only US$99 for 5 days starting this Saturday, 29 December 2018 through Wednesday, 2 January, 2019 at 11:59pm (New York – US Eastern Standard Time). Use the code “Meditate19” at this link to get the special rate. If you have not seen the course yet, I would love for you to check it out at learn.dandapani.org.
I’m Grateful to my Guru
I’m super grateful to my guru for all the time he personally invested in training me when I lived with him as a Hindu monk in his cloistered monastery. The tools and teachings he shared with me have completely changed my life and continue to do so. One of my goals in this life is to continue to share with the world at large what he shared with me. To honor his birthday which is coming up on the 5th of January, I want to offer a very special discount on my online course on the mind and meditation for 5 days.
What’s different about this course?
It teaches you what you need to know about meditation, not what you want to know. It’s an easier sell for me if I told you what you want to hear, but that is not going to help you. So, in the course, I share with you what you need to hear in order for you to have a sustainable meditation practice.
But I will be upfront about it and say that it requires you to put the work in. No effort, no results. If you are looking for a quick fix, this is not the course for you. If you are looking for something that is simple, practical and easily applicable in your life, then this is it. There’s nothing complex in this course, but it will require your effort and I will show you a practical way to cultivate a daily meditation ritual.
A long-term practice
Anybody that tells you that meditation is instantly gratifying is misleading you. Initially it isn’t, but later on, it is. Yes, you can experience the benefits of meditation immediately, but only when you have truly learned to meditate. This takes time. It takes consistent practice. The rewards come much later on and that is why a solid foundation needs to be established.
So, what is in the course?
The course has two parts to it: the mind and meditation. Teaching about the mind has been left out of most meditation courses.
Why learn about the mind? Because we meditate with the mind. If you understand how the mind works, then it is easier for you to control it and direct it.
The three important things that you will learn in the mind section of the course are:
1. Understanding how the mind works.
2. Learning and practicing concentration. You can’t meditate unless you can concentrate. Concentration precedes meditation.
3. Developing willpower. Why? Because meditation is not instantly gratifying. The rewards come much later on and you need willpower to sustain the practice.
What you need to know about meditation?
There are a few things that are not often spoken about in meditation which you will learn in this course. They are:
– Preparing to meditate. This, I can say from personal experience, is one of the most important steps in meditation.
– Setting a goal in meditation.
– Having a clear systematic, step-by-step process for your meditation.
What are these teachings based on?
Primarily, the content comes from what I learned from my guru on the mind and meditation when I lived as a monk in his cloistered Hindu monastery. It is part of a 2,200-year-old Hindu lineage. Time-tested for sure, and it works as well today as it did a couple of millennia ago.
The benefits of meditation are endless but here are few of the ones that will stand out to those beginning this practice:
1. You get to know yourself better. This means you will get to know what you want in life as well, such as knowing your purpose in life.
2. Have better control over your mind and emotions.
3. From this course, you will learn to concentrate and become good at it so you can focus on all the people and things that matter in your life.
I encourage you to take advantage of our 5-day sale for only US$99. The sale begins Saturday, 29 December 2018 and continues for 5 days through Wednesday, 2 January 2019 at 11:59pm (New York – US Eastern Standard Time). Use code “Meditate19” to access the discount.
