Meditation is a Fine Art
June 26, 2017 • Learn, Meditation
Meditation is a fine art and we need to treat it that way. We need to treat it the same way we would treat learning any art form. If we wanted to learn the piano, we would not take a 12-week course hoping at the end of the 12 weeks that we would be able to play the piano like a master. That would be an unrealistic expectation.
The common sense approach is that we come to our lessons with the understanding that it will take a lot of practice, time, humility and an openness to learn. We begin with the basics, by first learning how to make our fingers limber, then learning the scales or learning how to read music. There are a lot of things to learn and understand before one can play even simple music on the piano. This process will require many weeks, months and years of practice before one can expect to be really good at it.
Meditation needs to be approached the same way as well, because it is a fine art.
