The relationship

Sixteen years with EO

In August 2010, the Perth chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization invited Dandapani, the international keynote speaker, to lead a private all-day workshop on sustaining professional success through a well-built personal life. He has been working with EO ever since.

Two years later, EO put him on its biggest stages. He spoke at the Global Leadership Conference in Bahrain the year the organization celebrated its 25th anniversary, and keynoted the EO University in Istanbul, the annual gathering that draws members from every region of the world. Members who saw him there carried him home: the Learning Chair of EO Brisbane booked him after Istanbul, and the chapter retreat that followed drew a record 53 of its 85 members and was named one of EO’s top three learning events of the year.

That is how it has worked ever since. A member sees him once, and a chapter calls. Sixteen years on, the relationship spans more than one hundred events with over sixty chapters on five continents: keynotes, full-day workshops, chapter retreats, forum retreats, fireside chats, and the virtual sessions that carried chapters through the pandemic. Entrepreneurs respond to this work for a simple reason: it is practical. No theory to admire, no philosophy to file away. These are tools to use the same day.

The teachings

Three teachings, built for your members

TEACHING 01

Unwavering Focus

Practical tools to help members lead and sustain a focused life

Focus is not a gift some people are born with. It is a skill, and almost no one has ever been taught it. Dandapani shows members how the mind actually works, then trains them to concentrate it at will: on the decision, on the negotiation, on the person across the table. The return arrives quickly. Sharper decision-making, deeper relationships at work and at home, and a steady release from the anxiety, stress and distraction that come from an untrained mind. Members leave with simple daily exercises that take minutes to practice and hold for years.

TEACHING 02

The 50-Year Plan

Define your purpose. Design your legacy.

Every member of your chapter has a strategic plan for their company. Very few have one for their life. Dandapani walks members through defining their life’s purpose, then building a 50-year plan around it, with priorities that decide what receives their time, energy and money, and what no longer does. For members leading family enterprises, he extends the horizon to the 300-year plan: a legacy designed to outlive its founder. Members leave knowing what they are building beyond the business, and with a framework their spouse and children can be part of.

TEACHING 03

The Inner Life of an Entrepreneur

Spirituality for entrepreneurs, without the fluff

Success answers many questions and raises the deeper ones. Is this all there is? What is my life actually for? Dandapani answers as few can: a Hindu priest, a former monk of ten years, and an entrepreneur who built his company in New York City. He shows members how to bring spirituality into the demands of business and family life, without fluff and without dogma. Members learn to define what a spiritual life means to them, whatever their tradition, to build a simple daily practice that fits an entrepreneur’s morning, and to guard energy for the inner life. A business is not an obstacle to a spiritual life. Engineered rightly, it funds one.

The occasions

Four ways chapters work with him

Keynote

Sixty to ninety minutes. The concentrated case for a focused life, built for chapter evenings, regional and global events.

Workshop

A half day or full day of teaching and practice. Members leave with tools in hand and a plan for using them in every aspect of life right away.

Chapter retreat

A multi-day immersion at the chapter’s chosen destination. Recent chapters have gathered with him in Costa Rica: Papagayo, Las Catalinas, Arenal.

Forum retreats

A forum travels to Dandapani’s sanctuary in Nosara, Costa Rica, for a walk in the gardens, a full immersion in the teachings, and dinner at his estate.

Most chapters begin with a single workshop and grow from there. Perth began with one in 2010; four more invitations followed. Portland’s inaugural chapter retreat became four engagements across nine years.

The toasts

In their words

The event scored a 9.5 out of 10, which is a fantastic result. We all learnt so much from you and have had so much feedback on how great you were. One EO’er said this was one of the top three events he has attended in his five years as a member.
Richard KordaEO Sydney · Chapter President
I saw Dandapani present at the EO University in Istanbul, and as a result booked him for our chapter retreat. A record 53 of our 85 members attended. It was named one of EO’s top three learning events of the year, and it is the highest rated event we have done in my seven years with EO Brisbane.
Paul ElmslieEO Brisbane · Learning Chair
We usually have 45 to 60 minute presentations where members are fidgeting and cannot wait to get up. You engaged the membership for three hours. The tools were not only helpful but practical and easy to apply right away. I have spoken to many members who have seen changes in their home and work relationships. We look forward to having you back.
Craig MorantzEO Toronto · Learning Chair
The feedback I have received was overwhelmingly impressive. For many EO’ers, it was their best EO event ever attended! So, thank you. Looking forward to spending time with you when you are next in Australia.
Michael MatthewsEO Perth · Learning Chair
The score for the speaker was 9.77. That is the highest I have seen in Portland, congrats!
Mike FritzEO Portland · Learning Chair, inaugural chapter retreat
