If you treated your energy the way you treat your money, questioning each expenditure before you make it, you would conserve much more energy each day.

Dandapani observes that people are thoughtful before spending money and thoughtless before spending energy. Energy is finite each day, and asking of it the same questions you ask of money is what lets you conserve it and invest it in what matters.

What this talk covers

  • People are far more thoughtful before they spend their money than before they spend their energy.
  • Before spending money we ask whether it is worth it and whether we should spend it on this, and before spending energy we ask nothing.
  • We give our energy quite freely to the people and things around us without any thought or question behind it.
  • Your energy is finite each day; you only have so much of it.
  • Treating energy like money lets you conserve a lot more each day and invest what you conserve into the things and people that truly matter to you.
If people treated energy the same way they treated money, they would have a lot more energy.
Dandapani

Questions

  • Treat energy the way you treat money. Ask before you spend it whether this is worth your energy, the way you would ask whether something is worth your money.

  • Dandapani says your energy is finite each day. You only have so much of it, which is why it is worth deciding deliberately where it goes.

If people treated energy the same way they treated money, they would have a lot more energy. A lot of people are very much more thoughtful before they spend their money

than before they spend their energy. Before we spend our money, we often ask questions. Should I spend it on this? Is this worth my money?

Should I get my money to this? Should I do that? But before we spend our energy, we never ask these questions.

We often quite freely give our energy to people and things around us without any thought or question going behind it. You have to understand that your energy is finite each day.

You only have so much energy each day. And if you treated energy the same way you treated money, you will be able to conserve a lot more energy each day and invest that energy that you've conserved

into the things and people that truly matter to you.
