Treat Energy Like Money
Energy is a finite resource like money, so decide each morning where, in whom and in what you are going to invest the amount you have that day.
Dandapani draws a straight line between how carefully some people manage money and how carelessly most people manage energy. Energy is finite, which is why you are exhausted by the end of the day and rebuilt by sleep. The practice is a clear daily plan for where that energy goes.
What this talk covers
- People who are conscious about money are conscious because money is finite, and there is no machine at home printing more of it.
- Energy is finite in the same way, which is obvious from the fact that by tonight everyone will be tired and want to go to bed.
- Sleep rebuilds your energy, and the next day you get a fresh amount to spend or invest.
- Each morning, ask where, who and what you are going to invest that energy in, which takes a clear plan and wise discrimination.
- The more conscious you are about how you spend energy, the more of it goes to the people and things that truly matter, and those things flourish.
Treat energy the same way you treat money.Dandapani

Treat energy the same way you treat money. Some of us, not all of us, are very conscious about how we spend our money. Why?
Because it's a finite resource. We don't have infinite amount of money. We don't have a print at home that's printing out hundred dollar bills every second
that we can go out and just spend money recklessly. We have a finite amount of money. And because we have a finite amount of money, we are conscious about how we use that money,
whether we invest it or we create a budget or all these different ways that we can learn about how to better manage our wealth. Energy is no different as well.
We have a finite amount of energy. Why do I say we have a finite amount of energy? Because at some point tonight, all of us will be exhausted, all of us will be tired,
and we have no energy left, and we'll want to go to bed. And depending on how well we sleep, our energy builds back up again, and the next day we have the opportunity
to go out and spend that energy, utilize that energy. So the same way that we might be very conscious about how we spend or use a finite amount of money or wealth that we have, we should similarly as well
be very conscious about how we manage our energy. We only have so much each day. I know last night before I went to bed, I was exhausted. I was done for the day.
I had no more energy left. I had a good sleep, I woke up and I say, okay, I know I only have so much energy today. Now where and who and what am I going to invest
this energy in? I need a clear plan for this. I need to be wisely discriminating. And the more you can be conscious
of how you spend your energy, the more energy you have to invest and put into the people and things that truly matter in your life.
And when you do that, those things flourish, the byproduct of that, you feel that you're living a more rewarding life, a more fulfilling life, a happier life.
