Honoring my Guru's birth date

Gurudeva Sivaya Subramuniyaswami (1927-2001). Born January 5th.

Today is my guru’s birth date, Jayanthi as it is called in Sanskrit. Well, I should say it was his birth date in his last birth before he passed away.

He was the most amazing human being I have ever met in my life. Truly was.

I knew him as a human being just like you and me. But there was a difference. He strived to realize and did, that he is a divine being living within a human body. He was a being filled with love and empathy, kindness and patience, and wisdom and realization that was beyond fathomable. He was approachable, always. He never created a sense of separation or elevation of himself. He and you and I are one and the same. That was what he taught me right from the beginning. See Siva (God) in all. His humanness, his highest realizations and how in touch he was with reality made him my perfect teacher.
