Jaisalmer, in the Great Thar Desert
July 25, 2011 • Photography & Travel
Jaisalmer is picturesque and truly a gem in the desert. Isolated, it’s an oasis in the Great Thar Desert, with its giant sandcastle like fort. It is also the base for many an adventurous trek into the ocean of sand. The old fort in the centre of town is majestic against the desert backdrop and at sunset, fairy tale like. A walk through this golden hued, sandstone citadel reveals a surprise at every corner. The town is lovely to explore as well should you find your way out of the fort.
This is our photo for day 15 of our month long series of photographs on Rajasthan. We’ll spend 3-nights in Jaisalmer on our upcoming spiritual adventure to northwestern India in Oct.
