The Power of Believing in Yourself

The Power of Believing in Yourself

Don’t waste time proving yourself to people. It’s an endless and meaningless endeavor, and an absolute waste of time and life.

If you spend time proving yourself to one person then you’ll find yourself needing to prove yourself to others. This then becomes an endless process.

In reading this, please apply wisdom. Obviously, for example, if you’re trying out for a soccer team or applying for a position in a company you will need to prove to the people hiring you that you can do the job. This is different from what I am talking about.

Over the years, I’ve heard phrases like, “I’ll show all of them that I can do it.” Why? Why bother? It serves absolutely no purpose having this mindset.

If you’re doing something then you should do it for you or in service to others. But certainly not to prove something to someone so that your ego can feel better about itself.

Our self-confidence should not be built on the acknowledgment of what others think we can or cannot do. It should be built on the inner knowing, based on past experiential learnings, of what you can do and can accomplish should you put your mind to it.

I also don’t ever do anything because I feel I need to prove to myself that I can do it. If we are not careful this can be a massive waste of time and energy. I do something because there is a purpose behind it. And I know I can do it if I put my mind on it. But purpose is the driving factor not the validation of my ego.

If what you do in life is dependent on how much others believe in you, you will always struggle. My guru had a wonderful saying which he used to say to his monastics, “lean on your own spine.” It’s a great piece of advice. Learn to believe in yourself. Believe in your ability to create and complete things. Start with small projects that you know you can complete. Begin and complete them. This will give you confidence. Build from here.

As I always say, “Small things lead to big things. Small things are doable.”

Be clear of your goals. Stay focused on them. I cannot even begin to tell you how critical the ability to focus is in manifesting the life that you want. Ask yourself if you can focus well or not? If you can’t then it’s time you commit to learning how to do so. Explore my course, Unwavering Focus. It’s well worth the investment of your time, energy and financial resources to study this course if you truly want to learn to focus.

Remember, it’s not about being focused. It’s about what the ability to focus brings to your life. That is why you should want to learn to focus.

    The Journey & The Destination

I’m going to make the wild assumption that most of you that are reading this email have heard someone or yourself say, “It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey.” I vehemently disagree. We as humans, often in our instinctive state, have a tendency to repeat what o

You do you, I’ll do me

In the years leading up to me becoming an ordained Hindu monk, I had so many people tell me how I should be living my life. They knew I was very spiritually inclined and in the year before becoming a monk, I made my intentions to be a monastic clear to people. It was fascinating

    Big Dog, Small Dog

I once observed a man walking a big Rottweiler dog on a sidewalk. As he passed along the fence of the front yard of a home, a small dog came running up from the front door of the home to the fence barking. This little furball threw its front paws on the chain-link fence that sep
