Why we struggle to change!
Why we struggle to change!

“Have compassion for yourself. We all fail. We all screw up. Sometimes multiple times. As long as you are firmly resolved to overcome your shortcomings and never give up in striving to change those subconscious patterns you detest then victory is assured, for those patterns are no match against your indomitable willpower.” ~ Dandapani

The patterns in our subconscious mind, the positive and not so positive ones, took years to create. Thus they may take years to undo as well.

If you subscribe to the concept of reincarnation then some of these patterns within your subconscious mind could have taken lifetimes to form. Now these patterns like I said can be positive or negative patterns. Patterns that have been reinforced and built upon year after year, decade after decade, century after century. That is why it is so difficult for people to make big sustainable changes in their life.

It is also the reason why it appears like some people are a natural at something. You may remark, “Oh, he is so disciplined. You can tell the time of the day by observing what he is doing.” How does one build such discipline? Possibly not just in one life but over many lives. The same goes for one who may naturally be a successful entrepreneur or athlete or artist. They’ve probably been building these patterns over many lifetimes and hence why it may appear in this life that it is much easier for them to do certain things than it is for you.

Keeping the above in mind, it is important then for us to have compassion for ourselves. When we try to change and fail, it’s perhaps we are working with a pattern that is much more deeply ingrained in our subconscious than other patterns.

There are many patterns within my subconscious I want to change to make a better me. Some of these will take weeks or months to change. Others may take years and even decades. I’m ok with this. But I’m not ok with these patterns. I acknowledge they exist. I don’t condone them. I’m just well aware that it’s going to take a lot of focused effort and commitment to adjust these patterns. It’s going to take time and a consistent application of my willpower. I need to be persistent and unwavering in my effort to adjust these patterns.

I require no one to believe in my ability to do so. I know I can. Your faith in me is not a factor in my ability to make changes in my life.  It should be the same for you. Believe you can and you can. You do not require anyone else’s faith in you to create the change you want to create. You have that indomitable willpower within you. You need to summon it, cultivate it and focus it towards making the changes you want.

If you’re determined, committed, focused … those patterns you wish to change stand no chance against you.

One of my favorite quotes from my guru is “Problems are not problems. They are subconscious patterns that need to be adjusted.”

Who knows how these patterns were created. And who knows how long ago they were created. Some may have been created intentionally. Others perhaps not. What is important is to identify the patterns that are present now, and determine which of these patterns you want to adjust and which of these you want to build on.

Gratitude and Specificity
Gratitude and Specificity

When we express gratitude or appreciation, it’s good to remember to be specific. For instance, instead of saying “thank you for being in my life”, you could consider saying “thank you for being in my life and always inspiring me to be a better version of myself”. Specificity matters. Instead of s...
