An enchanting Himalayan morning
October 22, 2010 • Spiritual Adventures
Pokhara, Nepal: It was an early morning for all of us today as we boarded a small bus at 4am and made the journey out to Gholakot. We arrived in this village and then hiked up about 30-minutes before arriving at a lookout that provided us with magnificent views. The experience from here was truly magical. Mountains all around us with the mighty Annapurna range bordering on one side. Terraced paddy fields being harvested, tatched huts along the mountain sides, villages going about their morning routine and the sunrise all made for an ineffable experience.
Later that morning our group took the opportunity to do their own activities. Some hiked, some strolled the streets of Pokhara and Pam from Australia decided to go paragliding. One of the older members of our group, she impressed all the young ones by jumping off a mountain in a paraglider. Go Pam!
We also spend time continuing our study of meditation. Today we explored deeply the difference between awareness and the mind, learning how to consciously move awareness through various areas of the mind. It is one of the key concepts to grasp in order to meditate successfully.
