India's capital, New Delhi
Akshardham in NEW Delhi

Aaaah....New Delhi! It brings a wave of emotions. This capital is a concoction of mixed experiences for the traveler. Spiced with rich history and over salted with modernity, New Delhi is a curry to sample but not indulge in. It is our meeting ground for our upcoming spiritual adventure, "Gems in the Desert" which begins on October 24th. Our stay in Delhi is brief. An opportunity to gather our wits, get to know our fellow travelers and begin our spiritual adventure.

That said, there is much to see in New Delhi. During our brief stay here, we will visit Old Delhi, meander its crowded alleyways and explore the local markets. And it is a little shoppers paradise here. We will also visit Akshardham, the magnificent 100-acre complex built by members of the Swaminarayan group in love of their founder (pictured at the very top).

Akshardham embodies 10,000 years of Indian culture in all its breathtaking grandeur and beauty. The complex, inaugurated in November 2005, showcases the essence of India's ancient architecture, traditions and timeless spiritual messages.
