Chidambaram's dedicated priests

One of the joys of traveling is getting to know the locals, their way of life and the things that are important to them. On Vedic Odyssey's spiritual adventures we take great pride in ensuring our spiritual adventurers get to experience this.

During our visit to Chidambaram last year we spent time with my dear friend Sri Kailasa Shankara Deekshitar, one of the priests at Chidambaram's Nataraja temple, and his lovely family.

Deekshitar shared with us the history and the sacredness of the temple, and was extremely kind to invite us to enjoy a delicious meal in his home lovingly prepared by his wife. His family have for countless generations been a part of this temple, caring for it and performing the timeless sacred rituals that keep vibrant the sanctity of this amazing sanctuary.

The video below shows us enjoying a delicious meal prepared by his wife, meeting their vegetarian dog and Deekshithar teaching Mike (one of the participants on the trip) how to tie a veshti (a traditional men's garment).
