I spent this evening around the Boudhanath Stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal. This stupa is one of Buddhism's most sacred sites and one of the largest in the world. Hundreds of pilgrims and monks can be seen circumambulating the stupa throughout the day on a paved path the embroiders this sacred Buddhist citadel. Countless shops line the outer side of the path filled with singing bowls, beads and everything one may need for fulfilling prayers and offerings. The atmosphere is filled with a feeling of peace. Everyone is engrossed in their prayer while circulating clockwise. As one circulates clockwise the energy within spirals upward and if you circle counter clockwise the energy spirals downward.
I also had the pleasure of 2 travelers who are on my spiritual adventure join me. John from New Orleans and Tim from Western Australia both arrived a day early to rest up. They are both part of YPO in their respective cities. A lovely evening filled with uplifting energy and conversations.
