When a person has a lot of time on their hands and no greater purpose in life it’s very easy to descend into a world that is all about me, myself and I. It’s easy to start feeling sorry for yourself. To find fault with others. To complain. To waste vast amounts of time on social media, scrolling on the infinite timeline of a platform. Watching videos on YouTube to no end. Endlessly engaged in your phone.
Many people today have a lot of time on their hands and no greater purpose in life. What they do not realize is that the precious time that they have on their hands is ever ebbing away. From the moment we are born a clock with our name on it (metaphorically speaking) has begun counting down our days, hours, minutes and seconds to our transition from this physical birth. What we don’t know and most likely will never know is how much time we have.
A person with a clear purpose always feels a sense of urgency but never a sense of rush.
When we have no purpose it always feels like we have lots of time. When we have a purpose it often feels like we do not have enough time. A person with a clear purpose always feels a sense of urgency but never a sense of rush.
Purpose gives life meaning. Purpose is clarifying. It gives us direction. A clear point in which to focus our finite time and energy each day. When we know what we want we know what we don’t want. We also know who we don’t want. It’s hard to say no when you don’t know what you are saying yes to. Purpose allows us to know what we are saying yes to in life.
If you don’t know your purpose in life then it is the one thing you should work towards figuring out. Channel all your efforts towards this. Where do we begin in our quest to discover our purpose? Learning to focus, naturally. If we can’t focus, how can we stay in a state of self-reflection long enough to know what it is we want out of life? The answer is within you. It always has been and always will be. You just need to focus your awareness inward and hold it in unwavering focus long enough to know what your purpose in life is.
Ultimately, you must want to know your purpose in life. If you do not desire to know this you will never begin the quest to discover it. Knowing your purpose allows you to live the most rewarding life possible. Life is truly a precious gift. Don’t take it for granted. Don’t waste it!
