Meditation is a Scart. Scart is a word I coined to refer to something that is a science and an art, hence ScArt. Meditation is a combination of science and art. A science, because it requires a systematic goal-orientated approach based on a solid understanding of the process. And an art because you only become good at it by practicing it. Having just an intellectual understanding of meditation will not get you very far. You can read every book about pianos and even know how to build one, but does that make you a maestro? Certainly not! An intellectual understanding of meditation is essential, but not enough to make you a good meditator. An intellectual understanding helps you to lay a disciplined framework in your mind upon which you can build a solid consistent practice. And it is the consistent practice that makes one successful in meditation. The practice is the art part of meditation.
