One important insight I shared with the group that was on the Spiritual Adventure with me is this: the moments before you go to sleep and the moments right after you wake up are two of the most powerful periods in your day. Yet most people squander them. They scroll, react, and allow external forces to dictate where their awareness goes. But wherever awareness goes, energy flows. And whatever you repeatedly expose your mind to—especially in these sensitive windows—begins to shape your inner world, your subconscious patterns, and ultimately your life.
But wherever awareness goes, energy flows.
If you were to become a little more disciplined with just these two transitions in your day, you would begin to see profound changes. Prepare for sleep. Don’t collapse into it. Guide your awareness to a place you consciously choose—through what you read, what you reflect on, or how you center your energy. And when you wake up, don’t immediately give your awareness away to your phone or the morning. Sit up. Take 30-seconds even, be still. Give awareness direction by consciously bringing awareness to the present - right here, right now - sitting on the edge of your bed. Impress upon the mind how you choose to live that day. These are simple practices, but they require consistency to be effective. They require focus, willpower, and above all, the desire to want to live a better way.
During our time together, many experienced what it feels like when awareness is guided consciously—in our classes, in ancient temples and the profound ceremonies we experienced, our daily meditation together, and more. That clarity, that focused control of awareness, brought about a profound depth. This is not accidental. It’s cultivated. And while the environment we created together amplified it, the real work is learning how to create that within your own life. If you can begin with something as simple as how you end your day and how you begin it, you are already walking that path to a better life. To a happier life.
